UI/UX design & development of a rental-payments platform

About Pluto
Pluto is a rental-payments platform that lets tenants pay rent digitally while automatically routing the money to landlords on the other side — with the tooling a support team needs to keep verification and payouts running behind it.
Challenge
The client came to GRND with a product idea and an AI-generated web prototype — a starting point, not a real interface. The task was to turn that into an actual product that works across desktop and mobile, with payment logic solid enough to move real rent money between tenants and landlords reliably.
What GRND delivered
Starting from the client's prototype, GRND rebuilt the product properly: UX flows and wireframes for both desktop and mobile, a full UI design system for both, and the frontend development that shipped it — including the payment logic connecting tenants and landlords, and a mid-project migration of the payment provider once the original choice turned out not to be the right fit.
Tech stack
From an AI prototype to a real product
The client's starting point was a prototype generated by AI — useful for showing intent, but not something you can build a fintech product on. GRND rebuilt it from the ground up: proper UX flows, wireframes and a full UI system for both desktop and mobile, so the product could actually hold up to real payment flows and real users on both screen sizes.

Money that finds the right landlord on its own
Every rent payment needs to end up with the right landlord without the overhead of setting up a separate merchant account for each one. GRND designed and built the flow so each landlord exists as a recipient inside a single shared payment account, and every payment — tenant charge and landlord payout — moves through clear, trackable stages, so both the user and the support team always know where a payment stands.

Switching payment providers without starting over
Pluto initially ran on Omise. Partway through, it became clear Stripe was the better fit for how Pluto's payouts needed to work — so GRND led the migration mid-project, without derailing the timeline or the parts of the product already built.

Our work process
Discovery
Reviewed the client's product idea and AI-generated prototype to see what needed to be rebuilt versus rethought, and scoped the product for both desktop and mobile from the start rather than mobile-first or desktop-first.
Wireframing
Mapped the core flows — paying rent, managing recipients and saved cards, scheduled payments — for both desktop and mobile, and got them approved before visual design started.
UI design
Designed the full interface for desktop and mobile: dashboard, payment creation, recipients, saved cards, and the admin-facing verification tools the support team relies on.
Development
Built the frontend in React, TypeScript and Redux Toolkit, integrated the payment provider, and later led the migration from Omise to Stripe once it was clear that was the better long-term fit.
Release & handoff
Shipped the product and handed off a codebase built to keep evolving — clean enough that a provider migration mid-project didn't mean starting over.
Outcome
Pluto is built and running across desktop and mobile, with the Stripe migration in place.

From a rough prototype to a product that can move real money
GRND took Pluto from an AI-generated prototype to a real, responsive fintech product — designing and building for desktop and mobile from the same foundation, and handling a mid-project payment provider migration without slowing the build down. The result is a product built to keep changing, not a one-shot build that breaks the moment something underneath it needs to change.
